Vung Tau city admitted to Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities

Vung Tau city in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has officially become a member of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO), according to Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Hoang Vu Thanh.

At the recent ninth TPO General Assembly in Busan, Republic of Korea, Vung Tau was admitted as the 124th member of the organisation.

By becoming the sixth Vietnamese city with a TPO membership, Vung Tau will be supported to advertise its image through a number of news channels and be able to exchange tourism information between TPO members via information introduction activities carried out by the TPO’s marketing centre in Busan.

In addition, the TPO Advisory Board will help the city to enhance competitiveness in the tourism industry, develop tourism products and train experts and students in the area of tourism, while offering the locality with data and forecasts about the Asia-Pacific tourism market.

Immediately after Vung Tau’s attainment of the TPO membership, the TPO side asked the city to provide its three most famous places for sightseeing, culture and tourism. The organisation also urged the municipal authorities to issue specific and detailed instructions for visitors concerning what to eat, where to play and stay, and some notices when visiting Vung Tau. Such information will be publicly and formally published on the TPO website to serve the searching needs of international tourists. As a TPO member, Vung Tau will implement support for visitors from the cities with a TPO membership.

Vice Chairman of the Vung Tau People’s Committee Hoang Vu Thanh said that its TPO membership will enable Vung Tau to exchange and learn from other TPO members in tourism development and improvement of state management over tourism. This is also an opportunity for the city to foster development cooperation with other TPO members to create a thriving community in terms of tourism development in the Asia-Pacific region, thereby raising tourism revenue and making tourism become a key economic sector of the city.

The TPO is an international organisation established in 2002 with the blessing of the fifth Asian-Pacific City Summit (APCS) in Fukuoka, Japan. TPO was borne to be an inter-city network to promote the exchanges and development of tourism industry among major cities in the Asia Pacific region.
