Sporting events stimulate local tourism

Dunes Marathon brings a

to experience
The Muine Dunes Marathon has
just ended with the participation of over 400 male and female athletes from many
provinces and cities nationwide and a number of foreigners living and working in
Vietnam. The award was organized by Victoria Resort Phan Thiet in collaboration
with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and sponsored by Thien Minh
Group. The tournament consisted of 3 competition distances of 5km, 10km, and
21km for men and women with the road running. Nguyen Thong and Vo Nguyen Giap
(706B) from Victoria Resort to Mui Ne Sand Dunes. Immediately after the exciting
warm up in front of the Victoria Resort campus, the athletes started for all 3
distances.

The weather of
Phan Thiet is cool, but on the race,
the organizers have arranged some points supplying water bottles, creating
excitement for athletes to accelerate right after starting. After more than 20
minutes, athlete Nguyen Dinh Minh (number wearing 137) finished 5km with the
cheers of locals and tourists; Nguyen Tri (124) and Hoang Huy Phuong (241) were
placed second and third positions. Also at this distance, about 9 minutes later,
Truong Thi Bich Lieu (062) was a female athlete who finished first, followed by
Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien (075) and Nguyen Phan Tra Linh (071). At a distance of
10km, the excellent athlete Do Huu Tam (335) won; Do Duy Thang (334) and Do Van
Tinh (332) finished second and third. These are also familiar names of the Sand
Dune movement. Female athlete Tran Le Pho (268) won the first prize; the
runner-up was Maria Ershova (281, Russia) and the third prize was Phung Thi
Ngoc Tien (271). In the quick interview at the finish line, two 10km champions
shared the joy of participating in the Marathon competition with the track
running along the blue sea and warm wind. At the destination 21km at the foot of
the famous Flying Sand Dune, in the cheers of many tourists and fans, athlete
Minh Duc (486) got first place with a time of 1:22'22 "; second place was
Florian Deichmann (483, Germany); Nguyen Truong Giang (473) came in third. For
the female section, Vu Thi Lan Huong (409) came first; second and third were
Pham Nguyen To Phuong and Nga Vo. The athlete Shabir Ali (India), said: "I came
to the tournament because I wanted to experience, for the noble purpose of this
tournament. When I came here, I was really excited not
only by
the scenery
but also
the race.
It’s outstanding.
It's wonderful here, this will be a memorable memory for us.
Sports stimulate tourism
At
the closing ceremony, Mr. Tran Trong Kien - Chairman of Thien Minh Group (TMG -
sponsor unit), affirmed: The success of the tournament, apart from the efforts
of the Organizing Committee, also has coordination and strong support of the
Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, departments and localities. It can be
said that this is the Marathon with the best running race compared to other runs
that the unit has ever organized. Moreover, this is an opportunity to organize
the next tournaments that are sure to have more athletes participating. Coming
to Mui Ne not only for fun and health while playing sports but also an
opportunity to enjoy the poetic, beautiful, and peaceful nature, landscapes, and
people of the coastal city of Phan Thiet.
However, with this beginning, it is hoped that sports activities will contribute
to stimulating demand for Phan Thiet tourism to return to its golden age. Mr.
Huynh Ngoc Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism, said: “Successfully organizing the Muine Dunes Marathon in particular
and sporting events in general is a very good opportunity to introduce and
advertise. promote the image of Mui Ne - Binh Thuan destination, thereby
attracting many tourists to visit and experience sports activities and
relaxation ”. Mr. Tam added: From now to the end of 2021 there will be many
other sports tournaments. There will be held a Marathon Stop and Run in March,
and the Stop and Bike race will be in April. The beach 4x4 volleyball tournament
national, national beach bodybuilding and many other events until the end of
2021. We hope these are sports tournaments that will attract domestic and
foreign tourists to attend, thereby having the opportunity to promote the image
for Binh Thuan tourism.
