The project uses 12 wind turbines developed by Danish manufactuter Vestas with a capacity of 24 MW and a total capital of VND 1,100 billion (85% of which is provided by German Development Bank-KfW). Phu Lac wind power plant is the forth one of its kind in Vietnam, after Tuy Phong 1 Wind power plant, Phu Quy wind Power plant (Binh Thuan province), and Bac Lieu Wind Power plant (the southern province of Bac Lieu). Possessing many advantages and potentialities to develop wind energy, Binh Thuan is supposed to make up 30% of the country’s total output of wind power. The province has attracted tens of projects invested in this sector with a total capacity of more than 2,000 MW. While the national assembly is considering the suspension of Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant and a number of coal-fired thermal power projects due to environmental issues, the development of clean and renewable energy is considered as the best choice for our country to ensure power security and environmental protection.
