Nationwide Volunteer Saturday campaign launched in Binh Thuan

BTO – As many as 500 Youth Youth Union members and local people attended the nationwide Volunteer Saturday campaign in response to “Clean up the World 2018” campaign on September 15th morning in Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province. The event was launched by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCMCYU), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the People’s Committee of Binh Thuan province.

Addressing the event, Mr. Ngo Van Cuong, member of the Standing Committee of the HCMCYU cum head of Rural Youth Union Central Committee highlighted that this year’s campaign focuses on direct activities in contributing to the ongoing imperative issues of environmental pollution and hot spots of waste discharge in rural areas. In addition, the event also aims to raise the community’s awareness on waste treatment and litter-dropping through practical activities to contribute to environment protection and adapting to climate change and natural disaster prevention.

At the event, the HCMCYU offered 10 garbage bins, items and equipment in support of volunteer teams to collect and treat garbage at the locality. After the ceremony, the volunteers and locals took part in collecting trashes, planting trees and cleaning up the beach near Hiep Duc canal, Chi Cong commune, Tuy Phong district.
