Binh Thuan to cull 865 pigs after African Swine Fever infected

BTO – As of June 11th afternoon, Binh Thuan has culled 865 pigs, weighing totally 126,523 kg, after African swine fever was detected in 7 pig-breeding farms of 3 districts of Duc Linh, Tanh Linh and Lagi.

To prevent the outbreak, the locality has implemented many preventive measures, such as: spraying disinfectant and setting up five 24-hour quarantine checkpoints around the ward to prevent vehicles from transporting sick pigs to the area.

The undersupply of pigs, triggered by the rapid-fire spread of African swine fever (ASF) in the nation, has driven up live-pig prices in the locality over the past days to more than VND40,000 per kilogram.
