Poor households get free audio-visual media

BTO - Access to information is one of criteria under the national measure of multidimensional poverty. To well perform national target program for sustainable poverty reduction, Binh Thuan is projected to invest VND 12.658 billion in support of poor and near-poor households to access to information period 2016-2020. The fund will be allocated to the implementation of two key targets: communication information and audio-visual media.

Of which, communication activities, cost about VND 1.5 billion (VND 1 billion from the central state budget and VND 500 million from the local budget), will focus on building and maintaining communication systems at grassroots level, as well as intensifying propaganda on the Party and State’s policies and guidelines in terms of poverty reduction work, disseminating economic, political, cultural, social, scientific and technological information to people in outlying and ethnic minorities areas.

The provincial authorities will earmark VND 1. 158 billion from the local budget for audio-visual media assistance for poor and near-poor families (providing them with equipment and media so that they can easily get access to information, contributing to raising people’s awareness of their responsibilities and understanding of the Party and State’s policies in the domain of poverty reduction, thereby, they will get better themselves to escape poverty quickly and sustainably.
