Honouring President Ho Chi Minh contributes to deepen Vietnam's relations with other countries

 Honouring President Ho Chi Minh contributes to develop and deepen the multifaceted relations and many fields of Vietnam with countries and organizations in the world; improve the spirit of national pride; and help gather, strengthen and develop the overseas Vietnamese community.

The statement was made by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung at a 10-year summation meeting of implementation of honouring President Ho Chi Minh, in Hanoi, on February 25, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

The event was attended by former Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; former Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien and representatives of ministries and departments.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, over the past 10 years, the honouring Uncle Ho has achieved many positive results and has been implemented on five continents through a network of Vietnam's overseas representative offices.

Up to now, 22 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa have had 29 statue and monument works. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also built and repaired monuments, museums where President Ho Chi Minh used to live. Up until now, there are 11 memorial sites named Uncle Ho in foreign countries, including eight works in China, Laos, Thailand and three works in France, Russia and Germany.

The Vietnam's overseas representative offices have also attached plaques for sites, where Uncle Ho lived, studied, worked or traveled, in Singapore, the UK, Slovakia, India and France.

In addition, the publication of books and movies about President Ho Chi Minh were also implemented, including nearly 40 books of foreign authors introducing Uncle Ho's biography, his will and his career.

Honoring Uncle Ho aims to promote the ideological, moral and personality values of President Ho Chi Minh as well as honour the country and people of Vietnam in the international arena. Uncle Ho's image has contributed to promoting international friends on the history and culture of Vietnam.
