Binh Thuan responds to National “Anti-plastic campaign”

BTO – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) has recently launched an Anti-plastic waste movement, aiming to propagandize and call upon the community to curb their behaviors as well as habits of using single-use plastic products. The campaign thereby can contribute to reduce environmental pollution, protect the human health and the ecosystem.

In response to the movement, the People’s committee of Binh Thuan province has urged the functional departments, agencies, branches, and mass media to specific the content of the MoNRE’s movement for ease of following. At the same time, practical activities in response to “Anti-Plastic Waste” movement are expected to be observed at localities across the province.

According to the MoNRE, the bodies and localities at all levels must deploy the movement to every cadre, civil servant, employee and their relatives to say “No” with on-recycled plastic products. In parallel with the Anti-plastic movement, it is necessary to convince people to collect and sort out garbage/wastes before transferring to the waste treatment plants.

On the other hand, the MoNRE stepped up research and hi-tech application in production so as to encourage people to use eco-friendly, plastic-free products such as fabric tote bags. The press should take action on disseminate people’s awareness of the threat of plastic bags and straws to the environment, the marine life and the earth.
