Thien Y A Na Temple recognized as a provincial monument

BTO - People’s Committee of Bac Binh district on November 11 held a solemn ceremony to receive the provincial monument certificate for Thien Y A Na temple in Binh Liem hamlet, Phan Ri Thanh commune.

The event had the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huy-deputy director of the department of Culture-Sports and Tourism, the leaders of the Bac Binh district and Phan Thanh commune, as well as Cham dignitaries and local people. Thien Y A Na is a deity that originated from the Cham culture, so this goddess is also called Lady Po Nagar (or Po Ino Nogar) by the Cham community and honored as their Mother Goddess.

Although Thien Y A Na is just a goddess in myth, she has been worshipped by the Viet and Cham people and ranked the top-class god in the Nguyen dynasty. The main ritual at Thien Y A Na temple is yearly conducted in Phan Ri Thanh within 2 days (15th -16th day of lunar October). Local people gather at the temple to make offerings and pray for Thien Y A Na’s support in living and business.

The recognition of provincial-level monument is a legal basis to preserve the temple, promote its cultural values, and meet the demand for spiritual activities of ethnic people.
