Rally in response to World No Tobacco Day

BTO – A meeting and parade in response to “World No Tobacco Day” with the theme “Tobacco and cardiovascular disease”, which was held on May 20th  in Lagi town, attracted more than 150 youth members and students.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Hong – deputy Director of Binh Thuan department of Health called upon the community and people from all walks of life for tight cooperation in creating an environment without cigarette smoke, maintaining the people’s healthy lifestyle.

After the rally, more than 150 cadres and youth members took part in the parade along the streets of La Gi towns. It is known that, Vietnam has 40,000 deaths due to diseases related to Tobacco use every year. Cigarette smoking causes higher risks of suffering from cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, a smoke-free environment also limits the risk of fire and explosion from smoking and cigarette smoking; reducing costs for environmental sanitation and fire prevention.
