Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Chi Vinh and Permanent Secretary for Defence of Singapore Chan Yeng Kit co-chaired the 10th Vietnam – Singapore defence policy dialogue in Ho Chi Minh City on June 17.

Both sides discussed security situation in Asia-Pacific and progress of cooperation at the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM Plus, reviewed the outcomes of defence ties following the ninth dialogue, and agreed on cooperation orientations in the near future.

They spoke highly of bilateral defence links over the past years, especially in exchange of young officers and training, naval and air force collaboration, information sharing, army medicine, and joint work at multilateral forums to which they are members.

Both sides paid attention to training, especially in language and international relations as well as sharing experience in treating tropical diseases, and cooperation among forces, especially naval and air forces.

For the comprehensive and substantial development of bilateral defence links in the coming time, the sides agreed to actively coordinate and offer mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly in 2020 when Vietnam assumes the role of ASEAN Chair.

Concluding the dialogue, they signed a 2019-2021 cooperation agreement between the two defence ministries.
