Royal Canadian Navy’s ships visit Vietnam for the first time

BTO – Under the Party and State agreement, the HCMS Calgary ship and MV Asterix commercial ship of Royal Canadian Navy arrived at Tien Sa port of Da Nang city on September 26th. The navy delegation was led by Calgary Commanding Officer Commander Blair Saltel, starting a five-day visit to Vietnam.

This is the first time the Navy ship of Canadian detachment visited Vietnam marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Canada.

Welcoming the Canadian ship, there were leaders of the High Command of Naval Region 3, the Defense Ministry’s Department of Foreign Relations, the High Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Force and Da Nang’s Department of External Affairs and Military Command.

“Vietnam is one of countries in Southeast Asia famous for its hospitality and truthful partner of Canada. During their stay, the guests also planned to visit famous destinations of Da Nang city and join in maritime activities with the Vietnam People’s Navy to improve the cooperation network of the Royal Canadian Navy in the region”, said Calgary Commanding Officer Commander Blair Saltel.

Binh Thuan culled over 30 thousands of pigs due to African swine fever

BTO- As many as 30,300 farmed pigs infected with African swine fever (ASF), or over 2,000 tons, was culled by August 19th, according to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
