“Vietnamese children – reaching out the world” contest launched to young learners nationwide

BTO – The first program “Vietnamese Children – reaching out the world”, themed “ASEAN character” has been launched recently. The event aims to improve the Vietnamese children’s knowledge about the country’s traditional culture, promote the national cultural traits to international friends, as well as motivate young learners to study English and be a healthy playground for all of them to make their creation.

According to the program’s content, participants must be Vietnamese children, aged from 6-15 (in their 1st grade to 9th grade at primary and secondary school), and Foreign children who are living and studying in Vietnam can be also included. Those students can register for participating in the contest in terms of group of three or in individual via Website:

The group or individual entries can make a Video clip introducing the country’s cultural features (food, customs, festival, historical relics, landscape, folklore song, traditional trade village, etc.) under the theme of each contest round.

In the first round, from October 15th 2019 to January 31st 2020, students can send their video clips, within duration from 2-5 minutes, figuring their hometown’s culture. Vietnamese language or English language can be used in the video.

In the second round, from January 2nd to 29th, 2020, 63 outstanding teams selected from the first round will be drawn into 9 groups of 7 teams. Each group is assigned for task of representing a country in ASEAN, including: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore’s and Thailand. 

 Each team makes a video to introduce a cultural trait of an ASEAN country as assigned. The Video uses English language and its subtitle is in Vietnamese language.

In the final found, all the teams participated in a forum “Children with the promotion of Vietnamese cultural identity”. At the forum, each team raise their ideas, opinions, innovations, and contributions to the help improve children’s essential skills and responsibilities for promoting the country’s cultural identity.

The prizes consists of 1 first prize worth VND 30 million, 3 second prizes worth VND 20 million, 6 third prizes worth VND 10 million. Additionally, individual or teams winners will be granted with certificates of merit by the Central council of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization.
