Binh Thuan to oversee closely trash disposal at sea

BTO- The provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has recently promulgated documents to urge relevant agencies, bodies to settle with trash drifting on shores of Mui Ne area (Phan Thiet city) over the recent time. Based on a recent survey findings conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DoENS), the PPC agreed with the suggestions of the DoENS to request the People’s Committee of Phan Thiet city and Binh Thuan Urban Services and Environment Joint Stock Company to mobilize human forces to collect trashes in protection of marine environment. The local youth are encouraged to participate in voluntary Saturday to pick up waste, trash and spread propaganda on environmental protection to the inhabitants as well as tourists.

For long-term measures against rubbishes washing up on the beaches of Mui Ne, causing environmental pollution and ruining the local tourism landscapes, Binh Thuan PPC requested coastal districts and townlets’ authorities to enhance education and propaganda to raise the community’s awareness of bad impact of trash disposal on the real life, and instructs them to discharge and collect trashes at right places. Since then, the local authorities can keep monitoring the environmental conditions of coastal and riverside projects.

Additionally, the PPC also assigned the DoENS to actively set up a plan to treat drifted trashes on shore of Ham Tien – Mui Ne, not let the trashes to backlog for a long time, that can affect the travel activities. In the meantime, activities of business units along the coastline shall be under closely monitored and strictly handle with as long as having any faults. The PPC also asks the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to disseminate the coastal and off-shore fishing and traveling boats not to litter the daily waste at sea. All shall be closely overseen to timely tackle with violations.
