Vietnam promotes culture, tourism and cuisine in France

Vietnam’s culture, landscape, tourism and cuisine are being advertised to international friends through a “Vietnamese cultural space” covering nearly 3,000 sq. km at the ongoing 84th Metz International Fair in Metz, France from September 27 to October 7.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep (third from left) and French local leaders cut the ribbon to launch the Metz International Fair 2019.

The space, organised by the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in France, features a culture-tourism section introducing the landscapes in different regions of Vietnam, in addition to a section introducing Vietnamese handicraft & fine art and another promoting Vietnam’s traditional dishes such as pho, spring roll and southern beef noodle.

Featured in the “Vietnamese cultural space” is a stage for water puppet and cheo (traditional opera) performances by artists from the Vietnam Puppet Theater and the Vietnam Cheo Theater.

A Vietnamese film week is also organised by the Vietnamese Cultural Centre during the fair, while the country’s traditional art forms, including to he (toy figurine) making and Vietnamese calligraphy, are also introduced to the French people.

On October 4, Vietnam’s trade mission in France will work with the Eastern France Chamber of Commerce and Industry to hold a roundtable meeting to discuss and promote France-Vietnam trade, with dozens of French firms having registered to attend. The event aims to introduce Vietnam’s investment opportunities and potential to French companies.

The International Fair of Metz is one of the largest annual fairs in France, bringing together thousands of companies and prestigious trademarks of Grand-Est, a central region in northeastern France bordering Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany.
