Vinh named in Suzuki Cup 2016 team of tourney

“Vietnam’s Le Cong Vinh will retire from international football after the Golden Stars’ semi-final exit, but he will do so as their leading scorer in the tournament. The Vietnamese skipper surpassed Le Huynh Duc’s record of 14 AFF Suzuki Cup goals, scoring two during the group stages to take him to an overall tally of 15 goals,” the website wrote about Vinh.

“Both goals proved crucial each time, with the first being a winner against co-hosts Myanmar, while the second was an equaliser against Cambodia. Southeast Asia has little to boast of in striking talents and Vinh’s scoring prowess will be hugely missed by the region,” the website added.

Besides Vinh, it named Teerasil Dangda of Thailand, Boaz Solossa of Indonesia, Aung Thu of Myanmar and Hassan Sunny of Singapore.

Earlier, Vinh had also selected in the typical team of AFF football event by Fox Sport Asia and goal.com.
