The project, sponsored by Belgian government, has been implemented in the Luy river basin (Bac Binh district) within 6 years (2013-2019) with a total cost of Euro 6 million. The project, which aims to build the capacity of the locality in terms of integrated water resources management and urban development relating to climate change, focus on the following tasks: developing and evaluating the changes in strings of specific climatic features, indicating climatic and meteorological forecasts, providing database (of climate, meteorology and hydrology) in support of weather forecast in Binh Thuan province.
After 3 years of implementing the project, most of contents have been carried out as scheduled in stead of some slow progress in establishment of the coordination board and improving the ability in water resources management and urban development.
Addressing at the meeting, Nam said that the project has made an important contribution to solving the impact of climate change in Binh Thuan province. He expressed strong hope that through the implementation of project integrated water management and urban development, Binh Thuan would draw useful experiences for its action plan in response to climate change.
