Dragon fruit trading activities resumed in Binh Thuan

BTO- According to Division of Agriculture & Rural development of Ham Thuan Nam district, almost all dragon fruit trading facilities in the locality were reopened on February 15.

Apart from a number of major dragon fruit exporters that have continued purchasing dragon fruit since the beginning of this month for official exports, such as: Son Thuy, Kien Kien, Phu Quy, Nguyen Thuan…, trading of this goods at small enterprises have been resumed after many days of suspension due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. As a result, price of dragon fruit is raising gradually (VND 7,000-8,000 per kilo at the garden, and VND 9,000-10,000 per kilo in  traders’ places. Currently, these firms are also buying dragon fruit from other localities.

Imports, exports and transport of agricultural goods to China via sub-border gates in the Northern provinces of Lang Son and Quang Ninh have been restarted. Hence, hundreds of dragon fruit containers stuck at many border gates have been allowed to pass the border through those sub-border gates.

According to forecast, from now until the end of February, farmers in Binh Thuan are expected to harvest at least 10,000 tons of dragon fruit.
