Binh Thuan attracted 9 solar energy project in the first half of 2018

BTO-Bình Thuận is well known for its dry weather, with abundant sunshine all-year-round. This is considered as an advantage for the province to develop solar power, one of clean and renewable energy sources being encouraged globally.

Therefore, international and domestic investors are paying attention to the potential of solar energy development in Binh Thuan. According to statistics,  over 40 locations in Binh Thuan (about 7,730 hectares of land) have been planned to attract solar power projects. Bac Binh district contributes the most, followed by Tuy Phong and Ham Tan. In the province’s master planning until 2030, Binh Thuan calls for investment in solar power plants with a combined capacity of more than 4,000 megawatts. Solar power development have been considered as a spearhead for Binh Thuan to become a clean power center of the country in the near future.

The first half report shows that Binh Thuan authority granted investment certificates to 9 solar energy projects and one wind power project, with a total capacity of 585.72 MWp and an investment capital of VND 15380 trillion. Up to now, the province has issued investment certificates for 14 solar power projects with a capacity of 723 MWp and investment capital of VND 20.729 trillion.
