Farmer in Binh Thuan to be honored as “Outstanding Vietnamese farmers 2016”.

BTO-On October 5, the Vietnam Farmers’ Association and the Rural Areas Today newspaper held a joint press conference over the programme entitled “Vietnamese Farmers’ Pride 2016” and announced  63 farmers to receive “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers of 2016” title. Pham Van Dong (born in 1955), a resident from Hamlet 3 - Tan Duc commune-Ham Tan district - Binh Thuan province, along with another 64 typical farmers nationwide have the honor to attend an honoring ceremony, which will be televised live from Hanoi Opera in the evening of October 14, coinciding with the 86th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association.

Dong is a member of Tan Duc commune’s Veterans Association. One of typical collectives in learning and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. The unit has taken the lead in movement “People join hands in building new-style rural areas” with a series of good deeds, such as: donating land, money and workdays to the construction of rural roads; taking part in work of educating the young generations, ensuring security, combating social evils…

He personally mobilized more than VND 600 million and VND 25 million to build 1.4 kilometers of rural road and build a new house for poor member.
