Party General Secretary and State President presents appointment decisions to
new ambassadors
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong presented
appointment decisions to six ambassadors to foreign countries for the 2020-2023
period at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 21.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Minh Khoi has been appointed as the new ambassador
of Vietnam to Russia; Nguyen Van Thao has been appointed as the new ambassador
to Belgium along with the European Union; Mai Phuoc Dung has been appointed as
the new ambassador to Singapore.
Dinh Toan Thang is the new ambassador to France. The new ambassador to Austria
is Nguyen Trung Kien and new ambassador to Hungary is Nguyen Thi Bich Thao. Pham
Truong Giang is the new ambassador to Chile while Ho Thi Thanh Truc and Le Hong
Truong have been appointed as the new ambassadors to Sri Lanka and Cyprus
respectively.
Following the hand-over ceremony, Party General Secretary and State President
Nguyen Phu Trong had a meeting with the newly-accredited ambassadors.
The leader stressed the need to effectively implement the resolutions and
directives on external relations and international integration of the Party and
State.
He also asked the diplomats to utilise the support of international friends for
Vietnam’s construction and defence, and focus on research and analysis of the
situation to propose solutions to the Party and State in order to deepen the
country’s external relations.
