National Assembly Standing Committee concludes 49th session
The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee concluded its 49th session on
October 15 under the chair of Politburo member and NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim
Ngan.

In her concluding remarks, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan urged the
Government, NA committees and relevant agencies and organisations to quickly
implement decisions made at the session and study all opinions contributed by
the NA Standing Committee to refine the draft laws discussed at this session.
During the session, the committee discussed some debatable issues in the draft
revised law on environmental protection and the law on export and import
tariffs, a draft NA resolution on the settlement of problems relating to land
for defence and security purposes, and another NA resolution on the organisation
of urban administration in Ho Chi Minh City.
Members also looked into reports on the implementation of socio-economic
development, State budget and public investment plans for 2020 and 2016-2020 and
the draft plans for 2021 and 2021-2025. A report on the implementation of the
economic restructuring plan for 2016-2020, another on the realisation of the
NA’s Resolution 100/2015/QH13 that approved investment policies for the national
target programmes in the 2016-2020 period, and a report summarising people’s
opinions submitted to the NA’s 10th session were also among those on the table.
Before the closing session, the NA Standing Committee also commented on the
tentative agenda of the 10th session of the 14th NA. Accordingly, the NA is
expected to adopt seven draft laws, three draft resolutions and comment on four
bills; consider and discuss socio-economic issues, state budgets and other
important issues.
Notably, at the 10th session, the NA will conduct a Q&A session and conduct
personnel work according to regulations.
The 10th session will be divided into two phases, with the first phase from
October 20-27 in the form of video conference. The second phase will be from
November 2-17 during which deputies will gather for meetings at the NA Hall.
